Claude Community Tricity

Tricity (Trójmiasto) is three cities on the Baltic Sea that have grown into one: Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia. Gdańsk was a rich Hanseatic port for centuries, and its medieval port crane still stands over the Motława River. World War II began here at Westerplatte in 1939, and in 1980 the Solidarity movement was born in the Gdańsk Shipyard. Sopot is a seaside resort with the longest wooden pier in Europe. Gdynia was built in the 1920s and 1930s almost from nothing, from a fishing village to Poland's own sea port, and it is full of modernist buildings. The lighthouses along the coast, the sea and amber are part of everyday life here. Today Tricity is also a strong center of shipping and technology.
