Claude Community Silesia

Silesia (Śląsk) is a region in southern Poland where dozens of cities have grown into one metropolis of more than two million people. Its capital is Katowice. For about two hundred years, life here was shaped by coal mines and steelworks, and the mine headframes still stand over the cities. The red-brick miners' estate of Nikiszowiec looks almost the same as a hundred years ago, and in Zabrze you can go deep underground into the old Guido coal mine. Silesia has its own dialect and a famous Sunday dinner: beef roulade with Silesian dumplings and red cabbage. Today old mines are turning into museums and culture centers, and the UFO-shaped Spodek arena in Katowice hosts one of the world's biggest esports tournaments.
